CONNOR and LAUREN MCDAVID and The Joey Moss Story
We hope you will join notable Canadians like the NHL’s Connor McDavid to record a short video for Find Your Own Story, a literacy program where children in hospitals are strengthened and nurtured through the power of shared story. Your video will be part of the I Read Canadian event on November 6, 2024, where you will encourage thousands and thousands of students across Canada to read. As well, your message will reach children in hospitals and outpatient services as part of the pediatric literacy program. (scroll down to learn more about the program)
-
Find Your Own Story is non-profit literacy outreach program for pediatric wards in Canadian hospitals where children:
• connect to story through readings from physicians, residents, Canadian authors and notable Canadians
• have access to a ward library to read the books highlighted in the videos and encourage literacy
• join on-line classes and have access to recorded lessons where authors help them write their own stories
• take a book home at the end of their stay in the hospital
-
If so, we'd love to include it in your video.
-
• it will be viewed by children in hospitals throughout the year at www.findyourownstory.com
• it will be used once to promote the reading of Canadian authors and illustrators on I Read Canadian Day which takes place on Wednesday, November 6, 2024
• the I Read Canadian webinar will be recorded and made available for one week after the event
• The I Read Canadian event is where we acknowledge sponsors of the non-profit organization Find Your Own Story pediatric literacy program to bring books into childrens' wards at Canadian hospitals
-
• shoutout of one of your favorite books by a Canadian author
• OR a short reading from a book by Canadian author (we can supply)
• OR a pitch for why read a specific book by Canadian author (we can supply book and pitch)
• permission to include short clips of your professional background that highlight your background as a notable Canadian
• you will have complete control of what the final video looks like
-
First and foremost, children in hospitals.

-
• record yourself and send video for us to edit for your final approval
• or set up short zoom session and we record to edit for your final approval
• or supply edited video
-
• You own all rights
• We would like permission to use short pieces of the video to promote the event
• We will only use the video during the I Read Canadian Day event and at our Find Your Own Story website after the event
